Series : Triptychs

The Wadandi track can be enjoyed in the Margaret River Region. It is 25 kms long and stretches behind Toot Studio from Cowaramup to Witchcliffe. It was originally the railway line that transported goods and passengers between Busselton and Flinders Bay. This ceased operation in 1957. The original farmers of what is now Fi's home and  studio site, were Nancy and Angelo Zani who were fire guards for the railway, checking for any accidents after the train had passed along this boundary.

"There is nothing I like better than to discover a location via a good wander. A bush walk, hike or just sitting still drawing or painting on site, allows me time to really connect with the space and start to notice the stories that are active there.  Repeated visits to a site over many season changes adds to my connection with the place. I started to paint in sectioned triptychs when it occurred to me that painting a large work has many similarities to journeying through a landscape on foot. The sections are added left to right, adding the memorised shapes and colours, patterns, plants and creatures as I go.
A note about my painting process: These works all begin with a randomly painted background that covers the entire work surface, I then slowly add and remove, curate and compose until I have nothing left to do. I work from memory and from my many sketches, simplifications and detailed observations, collected materials and photographs, the only thing I don’t do before I start is decide on the composition. Once I begin to compose, typically I will just block out the information that is not required, painting the negative space, leaving the shapes that communicate the subject".

Painted over three canvas. Composite images are digitally stitched together to allow a single reproduction of all 3 parts of the triptych.

Our print and photographic partners  are locally owned and operated and support the highest quality product philosophy.

We use only high quality archival inks, some times known as Giclee prints and Canson fine art papers and canvas.

Custom sizes may be available in addition to sizes listed but it depends on the size of the original art work and the size of the digital file. Please enquire.

If you order your print on canvas, you will need to have it stretched and framed at your local picture framers. The surface has already been treated with a UV coating for extra protection. Your canvas will be rolled and posted to you.

A limited number are produced of between 20 and 200. These are produced on request. Each one is signed and numbered by hand. This is visible on the lower edge on the paper print, but is on the edge of the canvas and will not be visible when stretched.

Reproductions are NOT created in canvas at the same size as the original painting.

Each print is supplied with its own matching print certificate.

Prints over 50 cm in measurement are large format prints and are signed and come with a print certificate. Canvas prints are signed on the back .Smaller prints are not signed.

To facilitate stretching a boarder of plain canvas, or black canvas (on the Still @ Home series) is added to the image edge.

The paper prints measurements are given as image size and paper size in case you wish to have a larger space around your image before a mount window is laid on top.
